Flat 28a was acquired as an investment in August 2002. Although the Cambridge Road building was in poor condition it had great development potential, so in 2008 a joint venture was agreed with Alchemi Group and Hillgrove Properties (who each also owned a flat in the block) to substantially redevelop the site.
The first step was to purchase the freehold from Wandsworth Council, which was achieved in January 2010. Planning permission to construct 2 mansard flats was applied for and granted in October 2011, with building work commencing shortly afterwards.
The exterior and communal areas of the building were also refurbished: replacing windows, repairing brickwork, installing a bin house, re-plastering walls, laying new flooring, replacing electrics and landscaping the garden; part of which was sold to help fund the communal project.
Work completed in late Spring 2012, and all flats were sold within weeks.
